Program: Getting Your Orchid Ready for Judging / Paphiopedilums
Date: January 8, 2026 @ 7:30 PM
Presenter: Christine Morales / Tomer Avivi

Christine Morales is an Associate Judge with the West Palm Beach Judging Center. A Miami native, she is a development consultant who enjoys travelling, yoga and the arts. She and her husband, Alex, love sharing their home with orchids, other flora and fauna including their dogs, cats, turtles as well as neighborhood songbirds. They enjoy exhibiting their orchids and have received 13 AOS awards between them.

Academically, she holds a Bachelor of Arts in French and Political Science and is a LEED Accredited Professional as well as a FGBC Designated Professional for Building Design and Construction. Considered a subject matter expert in municipal compliance of redevelopment within emerging neighborhoods, she has been instrumental in the success of countless transformative projects and events within neighborhoods such as Miami's Winwood Arts District. She is fluent in French and Spanish.

Tomer has been growing orchids for about 4 1/2 years. He started after going through an 11 hour surgery to successfully remove a brain tumor. After recovering, gardening became his therapy. He focused on orchids that he inherited from friends who were snowbirds. He learned about the Boca Raton Orchid Society from Alan LaDuke. Joining BROS lead him to some raffle winners, orchid shows, and new orchid friends. He is now a Student Judge in the American Orchid Society Judging Program, on his way to becoming a full-fledged Judge.

*** Members may bring plants to sell at this meeting, and there will be plant judging.

Monthly Meetings

Our Society meets on the second Thursday of each month at 7:30 pm. You are always welcome to attend a meeting, check out what's happening and meet our members.

At each meeting we have an interesting speaker, a raffle table, refreshments, a lending library for members, a ribbon-judged display table of members' plants, and a sales table where you can find fabulous bargains. The meetings are a great opportunity to see and learn of the wide variety of fabulous orchids that can be grown in South Florida.
